Giving Thanks to Deputies

The Palmdale Sheriff's Boosters will honor three Palmdale Sheriff's Station deputies at the quarterly employee appreciation dinner on Wednesday, June 19, at the Palmdale Hotel.

Recognized for January will be Deputy Richard Leon, for February will be Lt. Jeffrey Grussing and for March will be Deputy Danielle Day.

"It's quite an honor because the station votes on the employees," said booster member Pat Russell, adding the dinners also serve as a fundraiser for the nonprofit organization that provides support for the Palmdale Sheriff's Station.

"The deputies and their families will be present -this is a wonderful time to show your appreciation for all they do for the community and learn more about the Palmdale Sheriff's Boosters," Russell said.

The Palmdale Sherrif's Boosters purchased the sheriff's star for the brick wall of the Palmdale Sheriff's Station memorial patio, a work in progress to feature a reflection pool, patio chairs and tables, to serve as a tribute to fallen deputies.

The group has also purchased mountain bikes for deputies on bicycle patrol as well as much needed equipment for the Search and Rescue unit, the Palmdale Sheriff's Explorers Post and the Mounted Patrol, Russell said.

Tickets are $15 for booster members and $20 for nonmembers with the dinner kicking off at 5:30 at the Palmdale Hotel, 300 West Palmdale Blvd.

For reservations by June 15, call Kathy at (661) 265-6000 and receive a special raffle ticket.
